We are currently looking for a proactive & detail-oriented
Financial Controller
to join our team at the Central Post office in the heart of Rotterdam.
Our new ‘Controller’ plays a key role in overseeing financial reporting cycles and internal control processes, ensuring the accuracy, timeliness, and reliability of financial reporting and financial risk management. You also ensures compliance with applicable accounting standards and regulatory requirements. As part of the Group Controlling team, you will gain in‑depth knowledge of the Olenex business model and related internal controls and financial processes. You will need this knowledge to effectively represent the Controlling team in company-wide projects.
Job requirements
What the role entails:
Take primary responsibility for reporting and control activities of the Limited Risk Distribution (LRD) business
Oversee month-end closing activities and GL accounting
Review and validate balance sheet reconciliations
Coordinate accounting activities with various functions, including Global Business Services (GBS)
Support broader Controlling activities, including:
Inventory reconciliations
Mass‑balance controls overseeing goods flows across Olenex locations
Contribute to Group Controlling tasks, such as:
Monitoring accounting task execution and maintaining SOPs
Preparing ad‑hoc analyses and providing query support
Daily FX exposure monitoring and risk mitigation follow-up
Supporting internal/external audits and follow-up actions
Streamlining reconciliation and accounting processes
Be a sparring partner to the Functional Lead for R2R:
Review end‑user training materials, shape training scenarios, and support pre- and post-go-live activities
Prepare and execute process walkthroughs, integration testing, and user acceptance testing
Support transitioning ledgers of the Swiss entity to S/4HANA, including analyzing and cleaning up balance sheet accounts and ensuring Chart of Accounts consistency
To excel in this role, you bring:
BSc or Master’s degree in financial accounting and control; RA or RC preferred
Experience with SAP S/4HANA (ideally in transformation or transition settings)
Minimum 3 years’ experience in a (commodity) trading and/or manufacturing environment
Strong understanding and proven track record in accounting and financial control
Ability to translate internal control and GL accounting requirements into ERP process and system functionalities
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
